Quizzes & Sessions

Build quizzes your way, open a session, share a code, and review attempts—without chaos.
The key idea
Teachers build quizzes. Students do not see them automatically. Students only take a quiz when you open a session and share an access code (or link).
Ways to build a quiz
You can build quizzes in the way that fits your time and workflow.
  • Import (CSV): fastest when you already have questions in a spreadsheet.
  • Build from Banks: pull questions from your question banks.
  • Add Manually: add individual questions one at a time.
You can mix and match (import some, then add a few manually).
Supported question types
ScholarForge supports a full range of question formats.
  • Multiple choice
  • True/False
  • Matching
  • Drag-and-drop ordering (where enabled)
  • Short Answer / Essay
Short Answer / Essay can use AI-suggested grading to save time (teacher remains in control).
Step 1 — Create (or choose) a quiz
  1. Go to Teacher Area → Quizzes
  2. Click New Quiz (or open an existing quiz)
  3. Build the quiz (import, bank, or manual)
  4. Save
Tip: If you’re in a hurry, start with a short quiz and add more later.
Step 2 — Open a session
A session is what makes a quiz available to students.
  1. Go to Quiz Sessions
  2. Create a session for the quiz
  3. Set it Open when you’re ready
You can close a session anytime (useful for ending a quiz window).
Step 3 — Share the access code
Students use a code to join the session.
  1. Copy the session’s access code
  2. Tell students to go to the Student Portal (or the Join page)
  3. They enter the code and begin
Tip: If a code “doesn’t work,” it’s usually because the session isn’t open yet.
Step 4 — Review attempts
After students submit, you can review results and attempts.
  • Look for completed attempts
  • Check scores and status
  • For Short Answer / Essay, review AI suggestions if enabled
AI-suggested grading (Short Answer / Essay)
For written responses, ScholarForge can provide an AI-suggested score and/or feedback to help you grade faster. You stay in control: you can accept, adjust, or ignore the suggestion.
  • Best use: speed up routine grading and consistency checks
  • Teacher controls: final score and final feedback
  • Tip: read the student response first, then use the AI suggestion as a second opinion
Common “uh-oh” moments (and fixes)
  • Students can’t join: confirm the session is Open and the code is typed exactly.
  • Wrong quiz shows up: make sure you opened the correct session tied to the correct quiz.
  • Students can’t find where to enter the code: send them to Student Portal or /quiz/join.php.
  • Someone started too early: close the session, then reopen when ready.
